Basic Auxetic Metamaterial - Anti Tetra Chiral Lattice

thingiverse

Auxetic materials exhibit a fascinating mechanical response. When stretched, they become thicker perpendicular to the applied force. More specifically, its have a negative Poisson ratio. This particular lattice is one of the most basic structures with auxetic behavior. There are two versions of it: a clean version to test it with your hand and the other that includes hooks to test it in a mechanical testing machine(as shown in a picture). Also, the parts to attach it to the machine are available. The machine used was the PASCO Materials Testing Machine (https://www.pasco.com/products/lab-apparatus/mechanics/materials-testing/me-8236)
