A simple bronze Khopesh typical of the kind used by New Kingdom Egypt (c.1550 BC – c.1077BC). The distinct sickle-like design of the sword is believed to have developed from earlier crescent axes, and in battle it retained much of the raw hacking power of such weapons whilst adding the slashing and cutting ability of a sword.
