Basic open top box

Basic open top box

thingiverse

This is a basic box that's open at the top, defined by outside dimensions: length, width, height, and wall thickness in millimeters. Inside dimensions will be smaller by two times the wall thickness in both length and width. To create your own STL file for printing, click "Open in Customizer" and enter your dimensions. For best results, use a wall thickness that's a multiple of your extrusion width. I set my extrusion width to 0.5 millimeters and work with multiples of that (1.5 millimeters, 2.0 millimeters, etc.). This box is created using OpenSCAD as a first exercise. It's pretty easy to use; check it out. The box pictured measures 172 millimeters in length by 32 millimeters in width by 25 millimeters in height by 1.5 millimeters in thickness. Thingiverse seems to be having some issues with the Customizer. If you have problems, try downloading the file and editing it in OpenSCAD. If you print one of these boxes, please consider posting a picture and sharing your printer details. I hope this box will be useful for you.
