Do you crave that thumpy 60's Carol Kaye flatwounds-with-felted-bridge sound but hate the look of having random pieces of foam/felt taped or wedged into your bridge? For certain kinds of bridges often found on Epi/Gibson style basses (e.g., this bridge: http://www.allparts.com/BB-0333-001-3-Point-Bass-Bridge_p_566.html ), I designed a slide-on bass mute. Just print 'er up, stick some felt/foam along the inside top, and slide it on! It's not exactly "pretty" but it's not bad, and (perhaps more importantly) it does work... I dunno what kinds of tolerances these things run, so please measure and scale up the dimensions accordingly BEFORE you print. The files I uploaded here, assuming nothing strange happened to the dimensions during export, happen to fit snugly on my Epi Jack Casady (basically a re-issue les paul signature) bass... also, included is a "no-logo" version so you can stick whatever else you might want to stick on there. have fun! PPS i got greedy and pulled the mute back off of the bass to give it more and more coats of primer - the penultimate shot is the finished mute after a couple more coats... short demo video: http://youtu.be/I4cfe3BQjR4 Instructions At my replicator 2's default medium settings, I had a little squirrelly-ness on the little logo overhangs (I printed these with the top-side logo facing out the front side of the machine), but I got pretty decent results with the medium, .2 layer thickness, and 3 shells settings. For my Epi Jack Casady bass, ensuring (with uniform scaling) that the X-axis width (of the exterior) was 100 centimeters seemed about the perfect amount of snugness.
