Bassoon Crutch (For Smaller Hands)

Bassoon Crutch (For Smaller Hands)

thingiverse

Bassoonists typically use a crutch to keep their right hand in the correct posture. However, this part's dimensions depend on the user's hand size, and as a result, players with small hands (typically younger students) are unable to use a crutch and develop poor hand posture. This part costs about $20-$30 to purchase and can cost more if a professional wants a custom designed crutch. This design aims to allow those with 3d printers to create custom crutches and print them out for less than 50 cents worth of filament. This design has a stem that's only 19 mm long, as opposed to the standard 24 mm length, and the palm of the hand sits only 13 mm from the crutch holder, instead of the typical 20 mm.
