UPDATE: The first iteration proved to be too weak so I have uploaded a second version that has 5mm walls and is 100mm long. I printed the first one horizontal and it failed along the layer lines. I still think it should be printed this way so in my slicer settings I made the lower portion solid. I also installed #10 sheet metal screws in all holes to increase stability. Again, time will tell. *********************************************************************************** My patio umbrella did a Mary Poppins imitation during a recent storm but didn't land as gracefully, resulting in a couple of broken struts. This piece slid over my broken parts perfectly after I bent the broken edges in a little with some needle nose pliers. I found it helpful to insert a 1.5" #8 screw in the center hole when installing to be sure the repair piece was properly centered. There is a hole on each end to secure the repair to each end of the broken strut but I haven't found that to be necessary, yet. Your results may vary. I printed horizontally with no supports and it all came out nicely.
