Batman Justice League Rooftop

Batman Justice League Rooftop

This is my recreation of the rooftop corner from Batman Justice League. This has been modelled in about 1-in-20 scale. Most parts can be printed using a filament printer - use about 20% infill. I recommend using a resin printer for the LED lighting details, sign letters and duct. Use supports as required. Join the components with epoxy and/or superglue. Clean up, prime and paint as required. Install LEDs after painting! The sign appears just out of frame in the movie. This has been recreated to provide lens flare. I assume that the signage could read “WAYNE INDUSTRIES”, with only the fist four letters of the second word being visible in my model. 1. Refer to the assembled model for construction detail. Do not print this model! 2. If required, cut the sloping roof into sections with your slicer software so that it will fit in your printer. One of the roof models has clearance to provide a glue gap. 3. Print one of each wall section. Note that in my terminology, north refers to the far wall; east refers to the wall on the right. 4. Several options for the lighting frame and beam are provided. Select one that works for you. 5. I found that the pipework running along the sloped roof section did not print cleanly, even in resin. Instead I glued some bamboo skewers to the sloping roof surface. 6. I found that the fine detail on the duct did not print successfully. Either ignore (preferred) or replace with some wire. 7. Solder red and black wires to some white LEDs. I used warm white LEDs - possible alternatives include cool white and yellow. Apply heat-shrink to the soldered joins. Drill holes for the LED wires - up from the base and in from the lamp housing - unfortunately I didn’t model these. Pass the LED wires through the drilled holes and check LED operation. Glue the LEDs and lenses in place. 8. If you need the sign to be illuminated, experiment to find something that works for you - perhaps miniature LEDs or optic fibre. I ended up using white electroluminescent wire formed into shape instead of the modelled letters.
