BC-778 (Gibson Girl) Lifeboat Radio Knobs SCR-578

These are replacement Tune & Radio/Light knobs for the BC-778 'Gibson Girl' emergency radio transmitter which forms part of the SCR-578 Lifeboat set used in WWII through to the 1970s. *** WARNING *** The original Tune & Radio/Light knobs and the associated panel on the radio are painted in radioactive Radium paint, which is not covered and is therefore an open source of radioactivity. DO NOT attempt to remove these and the panel unless you are competent to do so and have the appropriate PPE and radiation monitoring equipment to use. These 3D printed knobs are designed to replace the originals where they have been removed, disposed of safely and the area free of contamination. The knobs have been designed using a combination of photos from the web and measurements provided in the manual for the BC-778 Transmitter; they are fairly accurate and look identical to the originals. The Tune knob is provided with a indented line on the top flat surface which can be infilled with white (I used a .8mm tipped acrylic paint pen) to remble the original. Two variants of the Radio/Light knob are provided. one (GG Knob RAD-LIG plain) has plain faces which require labelling in some way with the RADIO & LIGHT markings. Note:- Observe which way up they go! I used a label maker with white on black labelling for this. The other version (GG Knob RAD-LIG) has the RADIO & LIGHT markings printed in to it. If you have a good quality printer, this might be the better option to use. I would suggest printing both at 100% infill for strength and with a 5mm brim. See Post printing for finishing the knobs.
