Bed Desk

The purpose of this design is to provide students a mobile office allowing students to have a platform to write, stay organized, and have a designated area to store important tools or documents necessary for online education, all while staying in the comfort of their own bed. The writing/computer area is slanted towards the front, giving students the ability to be in a more relaxed position while in class or doing assignments. There are six separate cubby holes to help students organize their school related belongings such as pens, papers, notebooks, textbooks, and electronic devices. An issue I came up against was trying to make a design that could be comfortable, yet sturdy, and also mobile. It was also difficult to think of a shape of a desk that would be comfortable for students to work at while still including storage space. If I were to redesign this, I would try to make it more compact and possibly foldable so that it could be stored easier and be more mobile. I would also make it more adaptive so that it could be used for more than just sitting in bed. 3D printing would help strengthen this design by providing a way to create the entire desk in one piece. I imagine it would be fairly difficult to manufacture this desk without multiple parts and a long assembly process.
