Updates: 03-24-22 - Version 2.1A (Strap Version #139) The previous straps were not manifold. While these printed and worked under CURA they required a log of stitching. I also shrunk them down a bit and added more support where the lower part met the rise. If bend up and down they would split a bit. While this doesn't pose much of an issue with using them I just don't like leaving a known point of failure. 03-23-33 Version 2.1 With larger strap for easier usage. I included the wrong version of the strap with my original posting. This strap is longer giving more room for the peg (and cloth) to move farther back allowing the pin to go in easier. The prior ones do work but there is a trick to using them. How to use: Place the strap behind the bed sheet where it won't be seen. Push the peg and sheet from the front, into the strap and slide back. Flip the sheet around so that you can see what you are doing. Place the pin in the hole but not too far so as not to catch the cloth. Now the tricky part. Take your time, it does work. Take your thumb and push the peg back and the sheet down through the hole. What you are attempting to do is pull the sheet as close as possible to the peg. If you are having troubles because you are using a thick cloth, turn the strap 90 degrees upward so that the cloth is pulled towards the peg. Continue inserting the pin so that it passes the coth. The sheet should only be between the pin and the peg. This is a much improved bed sheet holder. If you have an ultra-plush mattress than you know why you need this as keeping the sheets on the mattress can be a pain. How much string to use? The amount of string varies. Unlike the elastic versions that pull the ends of the strap together, string won't do that. You want the string to lie under the mattress so that when the sheets are pulled on they can't be pulled up and away from the mattress. The amount various but on my ultra-pillow top AND a 6" foam top to boot, I looped the string to make 5 strands total from one strap to the other. I used about 13 -15 feet of string for that. I know. I lot. If you get your string too short don't worry. Cut it off one end, then extend the straps to the length that you want. Next, Tie on a new piece of string for the needed additional length. If you get your string too long, simply loop it inside a strap before pushing the peg and sheets into the strap. That will hold the excess string out of the way and tighten things up. The first version's design was simply a knock off of what you buy in the department stores. This new version (shown along side the older version) was designed so that once you push the sheet threw the hole with the peg it won't come undone. Simply insert the holding pin. This makes it much easier to use than the earlier version. I recommend thinking of printing in a better color as well as you will want to put the straps on the other side of the sheets other than as I have for this demo. A bit trickier to do if you are as uncoordinated as I am. You can use a flexible filament to connect the straps but string is a better choice. If you use a flexible filament you can join them with the clamp provided (1.75mm that is) but you'll also have to glue them as the clamp along won't hold. I used E6000 for this as it is cheap and it works great on TPU. The holes for the filament/string are 3mm as well as the pin. The smaller diameter peg is simply for reducing print time/material by a small amount. A note on my version #s. When I make any revision I up the number. Unfortunately when I make a type-o such as 132 instead of 13 it sticks. Why? It IS good practice to never renumber versions, as well as it is NEVER a good practice to reuse version numbers. From years(decades) of programming I will vigorously defend that! :)
