emmett's extruder was one of the first upgrades I added to my Replicator 1, back in the summer of '12. It was an immediate improvement. Thanks emmett! It's been in daily use ever since and performed great. In recent weeks, however, I began experiencing sporadic instances of ghost printing. I just couldn't quite figure out what was causing it. So frustrating! Then I noticed a teensy crack at the filament feed hole in emmett's lever. I remodeled it slightly to make it beefier there. I also added a little more lip to catch the spring at the high side. I also increased spring recess size to match the spring I use. It's one of the common ones out of the standard Home Depot spring assortment. The now-quite-gimpy extruder made it tricky to print the new arm, so I had to stand there and manually feed filament as it printed. Awkward for real though. But... success: 90 minutes after noticing the crack I had the new arm in place and printing like a champ. We live in the future, friends! Our machines are repairing themselves, O happy day.
