Too lazy to get off the couch while binge-watching streaming television? Overwhelmed amateur bartender at a get together? Turn these minor annoyances into a thrilling, topsy-turvy adventure as a Sphero robot attempts to deliver frosty beverages to you or your guests! This first draft attempt at a cold one delivery vehicle is still a work-in-progress - find out more below in the notes on design and stability - improvements coming for v2. Sphero harness remixed from rmorrill's Sphero Rig art bot: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/enCZyzqszwN-sphero-rig Print Settings Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Simple Black Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.3 Infill: 10% Notes: I used a raft for my base for extra mitigation of warping - it may not be necessary on your printer or with a heated bed! Post-Printing Assembly I found a set of 3.5 mm Traxxas smooth rods and c-clips at a nearby electronics box store. I used these to assemble the wheels, which are just held in so far by the snugness of the fit. The wheel holes might be a bit small with their current diameter and the tolerance was a bit inconsistent due to warping, so a little filing might be in order to get things rolling. I would also recommend cutting out and gluing thin strips of felt on the underside of the harness to prevent your Sphero from getting too scratched up. How I Designed This Design and Stability Notes For this design, I borrowed the harness and rear connector from rmorrill's Sphero Rig art bot: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/enCZyzqszwN-sphero-rig I designed the drink holder section and combined everything in TinkerCAD. I also designed the wheels in TinkerCAD, but if you wanted something generic and less lovey-dovey (this robot had a specific Valentine's Day application) then rmorrill posted wheels for the art bot: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/2M3DjmRev33-sphero-rig-wheel For the next iteration, I will be looking into ways to reduce the weight of the cart and move the axles back to stabilize the cart, which carries cans pretty competently but struggles with a full 341 ml bottle depending on floor surface. It delivers chocolate bars to surprised colleagues very capably. A friend and colleague also suggested re-designing a way to pin the wheels in underneath - so I will be looking at that also for the next re-design to again improve stability and minimize spills! This was my first time trying to design a moving assembly and it was a great learning experience.
