Bell Siphon

Bell Siphon

This is my take on a bell siphon. This will install into a tray in which plastic pots are placed to be watered. The tray is flooded with water and will initiate a siphon when the water level gets above the thin ring (indicator line) on the outside of the bell siphon. As long as the water inflow rate is sufficient to fill the ouput tube, the siphon will be initiated. As long as the water can siphon faster than it is admitted to the container, the siphon will drain the tray. This is really intended for a watering tray which is filled by a timer and not a constant recirculating system like aquaponics. There is a left-hand thread bung nut to connect the body through the tray bottom. This needs an o-ring seal between the body of the siphon and the tray. The bottom of the siphon body is threaded for 1/2" NPT threads (common 1/2" PVC plumbing fitting size). This is intended to be printed with the output tube (tail) pointing towards the ceiling.
