<p>These are some Disney ears I made for the S.O.</p><p>I used resin to fill in the segments and then wet sanded to get a nice clear stain glass look.</p><p>You can see a full build story on Imgur here: <a href="https://imgur.com/gallery/DUD241Z">https://imgur.com/gallery/DUD241Z</a></p><h3>Print Settings</h3><p>This is definitely something you want to print in 0.15mm Quality profiles or better.&nbsp;</p><p>Do not downsize the print on an FDM printer. The walls are only two extrusions thick. Anything less and you run the risk of them not being able to hold back the resin.</p><p>I'd love to see this on an SLA printer, as I think this would print well there.</p><p>I used a CR10 for these prints with PLA, but I think that now that I have the Prusa I will reprint them, and in PETG.</p><p>I highly suggest using a white color material. Grey and black detracted from the final product. I'd also consider a copper-esk color or silver, as these match real stain glass a bit better.</p><h3>Lessons Learned</h3><p>I used a thick resin. A thinner resin with long work times would be best.</p><p>Mix the colors way darker than you think necessary. When the back comes off, because of how thin these are, there isn't much color. There needs to be lots of color, and lots of variation in the mixing cups for anything to show up in the final product.</p><p>Have a level work area when you do the resin.</p><p>Wet sanding and covering in a clear coat really helped make the final product pop and look more like glass.</p><p>It took about an hour to fill all the voids with resin. I ended up doing it in batches, based on color.&nbsp;</p><p>Plan colors ahead. Print a picture and color it in with your color pallet. Knowing beforehand where colors go makes life so much easier.</p>
