Belt Buckle for airport security

*Update: New version 2.0, adjusted for thicker leather belt (see main photo). This version is also smoother which makes the buckle more comfortable than the original.* Sick of taking your belt off to get through airport security? Well with flying picking up again, you'll find this useful. It's a traditional belt buckle that can be used with any approx 1mm thick 35mm wide nylon webbing. Version 2.0 can also be used with approx 3mm leather as long as the end that's passed through the buckle has been thinned a little. Most belts where the belt is turned back and riveted or sewn have slightly thinner leather after the turn back. At least mine all do. Print both buckle and tang separate and flat, with at least 5 perimeters for maximum strength. Also use 100% infill. Supports are also required. The belt tang clips over the axle to make a working belt. Thread the webbing/leather through as shown in the photos so that when tension is put on the belt it pushes the webbing against the teeth. This will hold even slippery nylon without any sewing. Use a hot knife/wire to melt a couple of holes at your required waist length. I used a spare strap from an old laptop bag to make one, but any 3.5mm webbing would work. I've also used an old belt to make the leather version shown in the pictures. If using wider webbing or leather adjust the .scad parameters accordingly. This definitely won't trigger traditional metal detectors. I've used the 3d printed belt by printschnitzel.at which is great for metal detectors, but it triggers the new body scanners being deployed in Australia. I'll be trying this design with the body scanners this weekend and will report back *Update: Passed through both body scanner and metal detector with this belt on a recent trip to Melbourne. Now have to print it in something a little nicer than basic black.*
