Benchmarking of Additive Technologies

In Italy, at the Politecnico di Torino, we investigate the dimensional accuracy of 3D printers and machines for additive manufacturing by means of a benchmarking activity. For this specific purpose we have designed the enclosed reference part which includes several standard geometries of different sizes to cover a wide range of ISO basic sizes. If you have access to a 3D printer or another additive manufacturing machine, you are kindly invited to contribute to the project by printing at least one replica of the reference part using a certain layer thickness. More replicas could be printed by changing either the material or the layer thickness. The results of the dimensional inspection of the printed replica by means of a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) are needed to include your machine in our benchmarking activity. In case you cannot perform the inspection of the part, please send it to us and we will measure it.
