I started this project to demonstrate my abilities in Solidworks to potential employers. I spent a little over 2 weeks on this, disassembling the pistol, hand measuring every part I modeled, assembling it, and creating the assembly video. This was created without any blueprints, all measurements were done by me with a digital caliper. My original plan was to model every single individual part of the pistol, and include every individual part in the assembly. I wanted to enter it into the Dassault 2016 Project of the Year competition though, and didn't have time for that. Because of this, the slide is modeled as a solid entity, with only visual indicators of the firing pin, extractor and other parts. I also never modeled any of the functional parts of the hammer assembly, other than the hammer itself. Because of this, the firearm looks very realistic, but would be entirely non-functional if it were machined.I originally planned on adding these components to the assembly at a later date, but have since learned that the resulting assembly would not be allowed on GrabCAD, as it could potentially be machined into a fully functional firearm. Because of this, I have decided to not continue working on the pistol, as it currently complies with GrabCAD rules, but would not if I added more detail to it.
