I use the pool pump with a long hose to clean the pool. The filter collects all the dirt and by flushing it a gardenhose it can still be used for a while, or for cleaning the pool again. This saves on the amount of filters needed. To clean the filter the water needs to be pushed from the inside of the filter outward. This cap makes it easy to do this as it closes off one side, while the other side can be covered with the garden hose tool.
