The Bettamatic automatic betta feeder is a near-perfect design, but it has one glaring flaw - when it dispenses food, it scatters it everywhere. To contain the mess, you need to lift the lid of the tank several inches at a time, which can be a real hassle. However, by opening the lid just 1/4 of an inch, you can funnel the food towards the side of the tank, making it much easier to manage.
