Bicycle Bar End

Bicycle Bar End

thingiverse

This is a bar end for a bicycle. Works great to keep the grips from sliding off especially with shimano grip shifters. It uses an expanding wedge design for a very secure fit, while being easy to install and remove. Uses an M3 socket cap screw 22mm long and a threaded insert (M3 any length from 5mm to 12mm, I used 10mm, the longer the threaded insert the shorter the screw needed). Measure the inside diameter of the bar. I included two most common sizes: 18mm and 19mm. Note, the wedge can expand quite a bit and accommodate a slightly larger handlebar diameter. But the closer the fit the better it feels. Printing: I print these in ABS with no support, no raft, and no brim. There is a built in support in the top piece (yellow cylinder in the pictures) which is easily snapped off. You might want to add a wall or just print something else alongside to slow the print down a little as the parts are conical and the layers get pretty small as print finishes up. I use a 3mm drill bit to cleanup the bore and punch out the built in support (yellow section in the pictures) in the top piece. Use a soldering iron to install an M3 threaded insert in the bottom of the internal piece.
