Bicycle Rack Repair Brackets

Bicycle Rack Repair Brackets

Both my children have a front rack on their bicycle with a shopping crate on top, fashion of the day in the Netherlands. They put their ~10 kg school bag in daily, and the racks broke off twice within two years. These are both construction and manufacturing errors of the manufacturer, and rewelding would be possible perhaps. But why weld if you can 3D print? So I designed plastic reinforments brackets for both of them. The cycle models are Gazelle PUUR (mint) and Batavus CNCTD (black). The Gazelle uses two of the same brackets, screwed to each other with a bunch of wood screws. A matching hole and screw in the metal lip puts it firmly in place. The Batavus has a holder and a clamp part, and needs two screws around the steering tube and two metal screws from below to the front rack. Maybe these designs can help other victims of these manufacturers (they know) and of the heavy school bags of your children (they know as well). The brackets feel very sturdy and so far they are holding well, after one year of daily testing!
