This replaces the light switch plate for a single Decora-style switch with a holder for the Haiku L-Series fans. When inserted into the holder, the remote blocks the switch, so that the power to the fan doesn't get turned off (allowing the remote to always work). Pulling the remote out allows access to the switch.
