Big Foldable Mask Case

Big Foldable Mask Case

imakina created a really elegant design for holding a mask, but my wife found it a bit small for her cloth masks. I re-created the design from scratch in Fusion 360, using a lot of imakina's awesome ideas.

I also reused the pin he designed as a component, because I liked that design. Make sure you insert the clip into the correct hole. If you feel the inside with a small screwdriver or pair of tweezers, the "permanent" side has ledges on the interior, while the clip side is smooth. You shouldn't need glue if you insert the clip properly and push it down and expand it.

The second pic shows a comparison of two of the bigger cases against an original one, and the third pic shows the differences in thickness.

The Fusion 360 design timeline can be used to make changes, but it's not totally parametric. Especially seeing the folding wedge's heights and lengths have to be played with in the drawing. It's possible to make it totally parametric as the timeline is totally clean, but I just don't see it being worth the effort.

The 3mf file has a hidden case that uses 3 layers for the fold, as opposed to two. It's a lot stiffer though. No supports are needed for the print, just like the original.
