Bike Shifter Extension

<p>On my mountain bike, I was frustrated with the position of my Shimano shifter - I awkwardly had to reach to change gears. &nbsp;It was not long enough, so I designed an extender so that it was better positioned, see the photo.</p><p>I have designed two, one for the Shimano Altus shifter and another for the Shimano Acera shifter. &nbsp;For each variety, I have included a straight version and one with a right 15-degree twist and one with a left 15-degree twist.&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Shimano Acera - 14.5 mm gap</li><li>Shimano Altus - 10.3 mm gap</li></ul><p>Print flat on the build plate (designed without supports). &nbsp;You will probably need to file the elephant foot.</p><p>You can experiment with resizing to get it to fit other shifters. &nbsp;Please comment accordingly.</p><p>Tools:</p><ul><li>file</li><li>shoe goop</li><li>painter's tape</li></ul><p>Installation:</p><ol><li>check for fit with your shifter</li><li>file the shifter to fit</li><li>determine the best position for the extension</li><li>coat the shifter in Shoe Goop</li><li>fill the gap of the shifter with Shoe Goop (even if the fit is loose)</li><li>press on and wipe away any excess Shoe Goop</li><li>wrap with painter's tape to hold it in place</li><li>let it setup for at least two days at room temperature (don't be tempted to touch it)</li><li>remove the tape after one day (don't be tempted to touch it)</li><li>add more shoe goop as needed - shoe goop tends to shrink</li><li>let setup for another two days</li><li>&nbsp;take it for a test ride; if it doesn't work, you can always remove it with controlled force (that is why you use Shoe Goop rather than something like Epoxy or SuperGlue</li></ol><p>_________________________________________________</p><p>The resin print is available for purchase at the following website:</p><ul><li><a href="https://structuralexpressions.weebly.com">Structural Expressions</a></li></ul>
