The purpose of our senior capstone project is to build a Solar-Powered Charging Station that will give students, faculty, and campus visitors the ability to charge laptops and mobile devices.Integrating solar devices on the Binghamton campus will foster environmental awareness and reduce energy consumption from traditional sources. Utilizing a dual axis solar tracking system, we aim to maximize solar absorption by tracking the motion of the sun. A computer aided design tool will be used to model and analyze fabricable parts necessary to meet system requirements. The GrabCAD workbench tool will be used for the iterative design process to improve design collaboration and project management. The overall design will create a welcoming space for students and faculty.
