<p>The original battery pack for my Dyson DC16 handheld vacuum died, and the no-name replacement pack lasted only a few months. The vacuum is still fine, so it seemed a shame to toss it or waste more money on sub-standard battery packs. Enter the adapter…</p><p>This model take the base from <a href="https://www.printables.com/social/34321-fcauwe">fcauwe</a>'s mobile power station, as it was the best-looking/fitting model for the Black and Decker batteries I'd been able to find, and then add a few tabs to it so that it snugly fits the inside of the Dyson battery pack. This allows you to cannibalize one pack to use B&amp;D batteries, but leaves the vacuum itself intact and able to use original battery pack if you still have one.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>NOTES:</strong></p><ul><li>I simply used cut-off washers as the terminal blades and soldiered the wires 90-degrees relative to the base of the adapter.</li><li>The voltage difference is minimal, but you will need to be aware that you should not completely drain the B&amp;D battery, or it can have serious negative effects to the longevity of that battery.</li><li>You need to be mindful of the positive and negative terminals, since they will be flipped between the Dyson BP01 pack and the Black and Decker battery and adapter (simply cross the wires)</li><li>The widening tabs have 1mm holes incorporated to allow piloting screws without destroying the print, though you'll need to determine where they align to the original BP01 case and drill a small hole through the side. The adapter also has holes for screws to mount through the top of the adapter.</li></ul>
