Scheduled stone found SW of the Black Beck Hole area on Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire. First published in Ilkley Archaeology Group’s 1986 publication ‘Carved Rocks on Rombalds Moor’, this rock was subsequently recorded ‘Black Beck Hole 01’ by the CSI: Rombalds Moor Project in 2013. The team cast some doubt on the markings authenticity as cup marks and suggest they’re more likely caused by high velocity projectiles. This model shows the markings are deep and have secondary fracturing around the edge of the depressions. Similar markings were noted on MOD firing ranges during NADRAP recording in County Durham. The imagery forms part of the HLF funded CSI: Rombalds Moor / Watershed Landscape Project archive deposited with ERA / ADS.
