Blind String Puller

Blind String Puller

Okay; for todays fun I thought I would go with a primitive. For the few of you that might have been following along you will know that I am starting this from scratch; and it is always best to learn from a good mixture of the known and the imagined. The item in question is the puller thing that goes on the end of a window blind string. Nothing too special, but functional. I know I have one of these that was accidentally broken (kid; dog; horse; bulldozer,) the story does not matter… but I needed a new one. And as you will no doubt see this is as close to a primitive as they come. The pictures are of a few things: The thing in use for proof… of pixie dust I guess – it just must be there. The thing – printed IRL – next to the real life original for comparison. (low quality picture hence second place) A collage of the measurements that were taken. The stl for the lazy printable finished product. And of course – welcome to my world – an OTT noted openSCAD file in which you can make your own via simple modifications to the in this case secondary noted out copy at the bottom. Enjoy! … Only this is where the story begins; let us learn how to make it. openSCAD documentation itself had a convenient shape that I could use that was somewhere in the ballpark of where I needed to start so let’s start with that an modify it using my measurements as I am going along… then and only then will I add my own somewhat trivial modification to make it into what I finally want. If you follow the openSCAD you will see my actions essentially step by step.
