**Important update: 2 August 2019** I've just discovered that my files do not print in Simplify3D -- they have huge gaps in the middle. Very sorry about that. They should print perfectly fine in Cura and PrusaSlicer. Hopefully I'll be able to find a solution to the S3D glitch soon. In the meantime, I suggest you check out zackfreedman's awesome [Blitz Saya Mk2](/thing:3759670) instead. **Original description:** This is a simple remix of zackfreedman's excellent [Blitz Saya mag pouch](/thing:3199791). I found the full-sized Blitz Saya to be a little too large for comfortable use on my battle belt, so the **Blitz Shorta** is a shortened version with built-in MOLLE/PALS attachment points, meaning you don't need to source any chicago nuts or other hardware (other than the usual elastic shock cord). Credit goes to [Vavoom](/Vavoom/about) for the _Blitz Shorta_ remix concept and name. And of course a big thank you to Zack Freedman for making the Blitz Saya files available in the first place. The Blitz Shorta is currently available in single, double and triple-stack versions, with left and right offset variants to maximise the available MOLLE/PALS webbing space. Be warned, the double and triple stacks are chunky and take up a lot of space! A standard plate carrier with 6 columns of PALS webbing will allow you to attach 4 instances of Blitz Shorta mag holders: use the **`OffsetRight`** and **`OffsetLeft`** body variants in the middle, and the standard mag body on the far ends: ![Blitz Shorta mag holders on JPC plate carrier](https://cdn.thingiverse.com/renders/48/1a/e7/79/3a/3f9d34e81fbc6544b0bd1f84092305e8_preview_featured.jpg "Blitz Shorta body variants, L to R: regular, offset right, offset left, regular") There are separate grip pieces to fit Katana or Talon mags respectively. In a pinch, you could use the Talon grip piece for both types of mags, but note that the Katanas will fit much more loosely unless you readjust the shock cord tension. The Blitz Shorta body itself is currently sized for Katanas -- I've found that 99% of the time it works perfectly fine for Talon mags when used together with the Talon-sized grip, but note that due to the uni-directional Talon design, sometimes if you insert the mag at just the right (wrong?) point it will cause the body piece to bulge. If you've laced your Blitz Shorta up correctly with elastic shock cord, this will rarely happen. It is normal for the Talon grip piece to bulge out slightly more on one side than the other: ![Talon grip piece bulging out](https://cdn.thingiverse.com/renders/49/cc/5a/4f/b8/0b461a828759df3a0faae3a08e72a6c2_preview_featured.jpg "Talon grip piece bulging out due to the Talon mag's uni-directional profile") You will need 70 cm of either 2 mm or 3 mm elastic shock cord per mag holder. You can get away with less if you only partially lace the Blitz Shorta, but I highly recommend lacing the whole thing to keep the grip piece securely in place. You can also get away with a shorter length if you're planning to use a cord lock. I personally found 3 mm shock cord to be very tight fitting and rather frustrating to insert, so I suggest using 2 mm shock cord if you want an easier/smoother lacing process. Follow the [Blitz Saya instructions](/thing:3199791) for cord lacing. You will need to print one of the included tab variants which are a remix of Mrheathpants' excellent [MOLLE tabs](/thing:3416702) -- a big thank you to Heath Heil for making this available. I added some holes to the tabs so you can thread some string or shock cord through for secure retention, as I find that the tabs have a tendency to slip out sometimes. * **MOLLETabShort** should be suitable for most normal use cases. * **MOLLETabMedium** can be used if you have an extra row of PALS webbing available on your belt/plate carrier, for a more rigid and stable fit since it will provide for an extra point of contact with the webbing (as seen in the photo above). The lower mounting position also makes drawing/inserting these tall mags easier. ### RELEASE NOTES/CHANGE LOG **21 July 2019** - Added a narrower Katana grip piece (**`BlitzShortaGripKatana_v1.1`**). Totally forgot about this earlier, sorry. - Made the Talon grip piece 2 mm narrower (**`BlitzShortaGripTalon_v1.2`**). **6 July 2019** - Added left and right offset variants for the body pieces. - Updated the Talon grip piece (**`BlitzShortaGripTalon_v1.1`**) to be slightly narrower. This allows you to make more efficient use of MOLLE/PALS webbing, with less wasted space. **25 June 2019** Added a triple-stack version. It's janky, extremely bulky and not practical at all, but it's there if you ever need it...
