The concept : First, this extreme event is to beat the land speed record with SSC Bloodhound. This "spectacular moment" requires to use equipments with a safe way, at this speed no mistakes can be done. My concept is to create a steering wheel which looks very user-friendly, safe and really easy to understand. My inspiration to propose this design of steering wheel takes part from emergency procedures to stop industrial machinery. The design from handles is straight, with ergonomics points, to keep main aim (try to turn at this this speed is not advisable). I have used intentionally pictograms on handles and dashboard to help understanding of buttons functions. Below some descriptions about steering wheel buttons : Handles : - On left handle : trigger to shut the rocket down. - On right handle : trigger to light up and increase power. Dashboard : - On left, a button to deploy airbrake, then a button radio to stay in contact with technical staff. - On center, backup button to deploy chutes, this button is designed as an emergency button, because this is only way to stop Bloodhound SSC as a last resort. - On right dashboard, a button to deploy brake chutes in the current way, below this function an additional button. - Finally, there is a display on dashboard to show mains informations like a speedometer, temperature, technical datas...
