This is a mod of the Mini satsana hotend for the Ender 3 that allows you to use the original steel bl-touch mount and is optimised to work with certain direct drive systems.

The original version might overheat when used with certain direct drive systems where theres a plate extending over the hotend, so I opened up more space at the top to let hot air escape more easily and also I cut away a bit of the inside so theres more space for the cables.

I currently run this with the stock parts cooling fan and a Noctua 4020 Fan for the hotend and it runs great. I already have over 50 hours of print time on this and didn't experience any issues so far.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

20%

Filament: Esun Pla+

Notes:

As it is a hotend, its best if you print it from a material that can deal with high temperatures.
I`d say Pla+ is the minimum (as thats what I had on hand), but the higher the glass transition temperature of your filament the better.
Separate the hotend shroud and the clip in your slicer and place the hotend on its backside for optimal printing.

Make sure to use support blockers in the channels for the parts cooling, as you wont be able to remove any supports in there once its printed. Don't forget to use layer view and check that you don't have any supports in there.

Post-Printing

You might need to use a 1,5mm and 2,5mm drill bit to open up the holes for the m3 screws that hold the hotend fan and the m2 screws that hold the parts cooling fan.

Use of the clip on the back is optional, but recommended as it improves stability and ensures a 100% wobble-free mount.

Category: 3D Printer Parts
