Blue wildebeest skull
thingiverse
This is a digital printout of a file sourced from africanfossils.org. The original data package is still attached (Bluewildebeest). To enable seamless color differentiation, I reconfigured the model, scaling it by approximately thirty percent and excising the horns from the skull. This manipulation allowed me to separate the head and horn elements for individual printing, as my printing bed size imposes strict spatial constraints. Print Parameters: Rafts: I deployed rafts in order to secure stability. Supports: I engaged supports to guarantee structural integrity at all angles above thirty degrees, particularly where sections exceeded three millimeters squared on my UP printer. Resolution: A setting of 0.25 millimeters ensured precision and quality throughout the print. Infill Pattern: I chose loose infill to optimize strength-to-weight ratio while preserving intricate details. Print Guidance: Print the head with the nose facing upwards. My experience with the UP printer indicated that supports were essential for printing angles above thirty percent and surface areas exceeding three millimeters squared.
