School: Milwaukee Institute of Art and DesignInstructor: Julian HurrleI used “Human Head” by XAMR for the basic geometry of an ear.Human Head What I have made is a luxury Bluetooth ear cuffs. The piece would go well with products on the market like the gold plated iPhones. When brainstorming an idea for a jewelry piece I wanted it to serve a purpose. With wireless technology on the rise, the jewelry piece would serve as a second hand security. I cannot tell you how many times I have dropped my Bluetooth earbuds.to be able to fasten your devices to your body lets the user know that your device is not going far. At the start I knew I wanted to make some sort of piercing. Personally I do not have any but the idea of a piercing lingered and intrigued me. I did some research on different kinds of facial piercings and found some plated cuffs on the ends of people's ears. Only one portion of the outer ear was gilded. I fathomed the idea of the entire outer ear trimmed with gold. To use the curvature of the ear would create some tension for grip. The human coated in metal seemed futuristic. Now it had to serve a purpose. Looking through my Facebook feed I found a video post about a deaf baby was able to hear his mother’s voice for the first time. So the start was to have a hearing aid integrated with my ear cuffs. Personally I do not have any experience with hearing aids but I did have a problem with my Bluetooth ear buds. So incorporating the gilded ear cuffs and Bluetooth earbuds seemed like a no brainier. A plastic version could be printed on a Lulzbot Taz 6 with any color of PLA.
