Boba Fett EE-3 Barrel

This is a set of cylindrical sections to form the barrel of Boba Fett's EE-3 blaster (Empire Strikes Back version). The sections are designed to be printed and slide over a piece of PVC 40mm waste pipe. They could be glued together and form the barrel on their own but the pipe makes the assembly much stronger. The photos show my blaster in its current state. I used polyfilla to smooth the joins between the barrel sections. I used black 40mm waste pipe because it was easy to obtain. A standard pipe coupler is then used to bulk out one end. As such my barrel is an approximation and not 100% screen accurate. Barrel The barrel set is made up of four sections to make printing easier. The total barrel length is 205mm with the pieces in this order : 30mm + 50mm + 35mm + 90mm. The 35mm and 50mm pieces have sections missing to form the characteristic "L" shape on the barrel. I've included a 45mm section so you print two of those instead of the 90mm section. It was easier for me to print two of these rather than the 90mm piece. The inner diameter is 42mm. I would recommend printing 10mm of one piece and aborting so you can test the fit. This will give you a chance to scale the print before before committing to a full set. End Nozzle The nozzle slides inside the pipe. It has two holes on the side. This allows you to pin or screw the nozzle in place. In my blaster there is a length of wood running the entire length so I inserted two small screws through the pipe, through the nozzle holes and into the wood. With a bit of epoxy glue the nozzle is firmly in place. Side Fins The side fins are attached by drilling four 5mm holes in the pipe coupler. The pegs on the fins can then be glued in place. I will update the photos when I've made more progress. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Fisher Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Notes: I used an infill of 20% to make the pieces slightly stronger than normal. Post-Printing After printing I slide onto the 40mm waste pipe and secured with two-part epoxy. I filled some of the gap with super glue just to make sure. Once all the sections were in place I filled with Polyfilla and sanded. How I Designed This These items were designed in FreeCAD. Extruded 12 sided polygon to form the body Radial array of padded sketches to form the fins Cylinder to punch out the centre
