Bombardier Badge

Bombardier Badge

My version of the Bombardier Badge issued by the US Army Air Force from 1918 to 1948. I made some small changes, notably the circle in the middle is larger so I could add some lettering (the lettering is not included in the uploaded version).

The badge has a hole through the back for attaching to the cap with a piece of .032" safety wire or similar, although that didn't work out well for me and I'll glue some velcro to it.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

LD-001

Resolution:

.010mm

Notes:

Printed on my Halot-one at .010mm, the best possible resolution. The examples in the photo are painted, but it would be better if they were printed with a metallic resin. Or maybe dyed rather than painted.

How I Designed This ===================
Designed with OnShape.com

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/e7437387e38d12e7d801ab80/w/4a543f399d2047abf97c909d/e/491198cb810fce1ba17c0bbc or search Public documents for "Bombardier Badge".

The organic wings part took a ridiculously long time.

You could probably load this into OpenSCAD and make the lettering interactive.

Category: Coins & Badges
