Bondtech BMG mount plate mounts to 20x20 V-Slot

This is a mount to attach a Bondtech BMG extruder to the side of 20x20mm V-slot rail. It will fit any 20mm V-Slot rail actually. The axis of filament flowing through the extruder will be 90 degrees from the direction of the v-slot rail. See pics. On my printer I've attached this mount to a horizontal v-slot rail in order to have the filament extrude upward through a bowden tube. You may have to rotate the object in order to print it flat on the base, with the part that mounts to the v-slot rail sticking straight up, thanks to my unfortunate choice of object planes in Solidworks. My apologies. This mount fits in between the BMG extruder body and the stepper motor that drives it. See photo. Note: I designed and built this to fit a BMG *clone* that I bought, not a genuine Bondtech extruder. I am assuming that it will fit a genuine Bondtech BMG exactly the same, but your mileage may vary. The BMG clone came with three 35mm screws for mounting the stepper, which was just long enough for the extruder without an adaptor plate in between. I used 40mm screws, and made this adaptor 5mm thick. The screw holes will probably have to be chased out a little with a 3mm or 3.5mm drill bit in order to easily fit easily between the extruder and stepper while passing the screws through it. I printed this with PETG using the following settings, but I don't consider the filament type to be important; use something appropriate and with which you have experience. I assume that anyone knowledgable enough in 3D printing that they're needing an adaptor plate to mount a new extruder to some v-slot rail undoubtedly has the experience to figure out their own settings, but for the sake of completeness, here it is: Filament: PETG Nozzle: .4mm Nozzle temp: 260 C Bed temp: 60 C Speeds: my max speed was 60mm/s Walls: 2 perimeters Infill: 20% Top/Bottom layers: 5/5 I sharpened the angles of the part that fits down into the v-slot groove with a knife before installing on my printer, and it installed easily and quickly, and the extruder is performing very nicely. Edit 12 Aug 2019: I discovered another v-slot Bondtech BMG mount https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3562944 by _AlwaysLearning after someone added my mount to a collection and that other thing is also in that collection. His mount replaces half of the BMG case, and mounts to the side of a v-slot rail in order to get that vertical filament orientation, and also has the stepper motor sticking in under the 20x20 rail. My mount attaches to the top of the v-slot rail and the extruder and stepper run parallel to the rail, so my mount will work fine with 20mm rail no matter how tall it is. For my D-bot I didn't have access to the side of the rail I attached it to anyhow (the drive belts run through those side v-slot grooves on the rail I mounted it to). So if you have need to mount the BMG extruder to the top of a rail as I've done use mine; if you want to mount it to the side of a rail, and don't mind it sticking under the rail, use _AlwaysLearning's mount. It's good to have options.
