This mount converts your Ender 5 into a direct drive printer, using Bondtech LGX Lite - Large Gear Extruder. The support replaces the original parts holding fans and the bed leveling sensor. Features increased airflow to the hot end's heatsink due to Venturi Effect You will need 1 piece printed from this stl file 38mm of PTFE tube 4 pieces of M3 3mm x 10mm Socket Head Screws (to mount extruder) 4 pieces of M3 3mm x 15mm or longer (to mount hotend PD04010MS4 fan) 4 original screws from the part cooling fan (PB04010MS4) Maybe a drill with a bit small enough to drill holes for M3 screws (If struggling to screw them as is) Optionally m3 nuts if you drilled holes too largely Assembly and installation Disconnect the printer from an outlet and remove the original parts that hold fans from the X carriage Put 4 square nuts that came with the extruder into slots at the bottom of the extruder. You might need to unscrew the extruder lid and remove the motor for that Align the nuts in slots by screwing M3 screws into the holes and put the extruder lid and motor back Secure the extruder to the printed part using 4 M3x10mm screws. Screw heads at the back must completely hide in the recess. Using battery powered screwdriver helps to start the screws through plastic, but final tightening must be done manually to avoid overtightening and ripping out the threads Attach the bed leveling sensor with the original screws. (Another option is to use M3x10mm screws. Drill the holes bigger and use M3 nuts if struggling) Remove and discard small plastic part from the bottom of the part cooling fan. Install part cooling fan using original screws. Fish thermistor and heater wires through the hole on top of the printed part Re-attach the heater and thermistor to the hotend Install the 38mm PTFE tube into the extruder Secure assembly to the X carriage with original screws Flip the printer on a side and unscrew the bottom to expose the mainboard. Carefully disconnect the old extruder from the mainboard (marked E) Plug the power back in and turn on the printer Set up a multimeter to measure voltage in 2V range Do not touch anything else with the probes or fingers, it is likely to fry the mainboard. Connect black multimeter wire to the ground (big metal plate on mainboard) and very carefully connect the red probe to the E potentiometer (see pictures). Take a reading. Unplug the printer from the power source Adjust the potentiometer so it reads in a range between 0.9 and 1. Turn clockwise to increase voltage, counter-clockwise to reduce. For exact formulas and more details use google and bond tech websites. (Changing current using VREF) Connect the new extruder to the mainboard In printer firmware set the E step value to 562 Recalibrate Z offset Enjoy. If the extruder starts to skip increase the voltage a bit. If it runs too hot decrease the voltage. Must be ok to touch even after hours of runtime.
