Bonsai Tree and Pot

Bonsai Tree and Pot

thingiverse

This is a 3D printed Bonsai planter pot and tree trunk with forks for holding actual greenery (like air plants or moss or bunches of small silk leaves). Now you can safely have a "plant" on your piano top or near your electronics without fear of water ruining something or a kid or pet spilling the dirt! Print the pot. (optional) Print the pot feet and glue each pair together and glue on bottom corners of pot. Print tree trunk (use supports) Print the tree trunk "forks" and glue them to the tops of the tree trunk branches (there are two sizes of the plant rests, for air plants I recommend the larger size). "Plant" the tree in the holder in the pot with some glue! Finish it as simply or detailed as you like :-) Print Settings Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: .3 (and .2) Infill: (varies) Notes: The trunk and pot take a long time to print, even at .3 layer height. I chose to do a very light infill for the trunk, but a denser one for the pot to weight it down at the bottom. It worked and the final assembly was not a bit tippy. I printed the plant rests at .2 so the would be a little more sturdy. The trunk is the only part that needs raft and infill, the other parts need neither. Here's a video of removing the trunk from the print bed: https://youtu.be/Z7LJ-qWlkd0 Post-Printing Printed everything in white ABS. Used super glue to glue the pot feet together and to the bottom of the pot. Painted with acrylic paints. Used Low Temperature glue gun to attach plant rests to trunk and trunk in pot. Painted some rocks with clear fingernail polish to use as pot filler. Bought air plants on Amazon for the foliage. How I Designed This I designed the tree trunk and branches in 123D using a similar method to the one described in this how to video www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWB8zvPZ1q0 The pot feet I designed in Photoshop. Everything else was designed in Tinkercad and I assembled everything in Tinkercad.
