I like the bontrager glo leds as indicators when riding at night. Problem I've had is the base where they mount have broken on a few occasions. A set of front and back costing $20 a set, and the fact that bontrager has stopped producing this small light has left me wanting to fix and find a better solution. This is likely to do with the way I use the rear red light. I have a full suspension bike with a dropper post. Can’t mount on the dropper post, so I was left looking for other locations to mount the rear led. So I put the rear light on the tube going down to the back tire. When using using the original rubber strap when mounted at this location, the excess strap that mounts the light hits my foot constantly. So that, coupled with the fact that thats a rough location taking abuse, I don't use the rubber strap. Instead I use zip ties thru the base. If anyone does mount them where I do, I recommend wrapping the section of your frame under the mount with electrical tape, or helicopter tape. This will help keep your paint looking good and help give the base of the light something to grip too. The opening that the rubber strap that originally came with the light is the same size as the original, so you can use them if you prefer. If you print these you'll need to remove the rubber seal thats at the base of the original mount that goes between the base and body when separated. Also remove and reuse the rubber strap for mounting. I made 2 versions of the mount, descriptions below: Glo Stl So I designed a direct replacement labeled glo, which includes to perfection the notches for the 4 very small pegs of the led housing to slide into the grove of the base. Also include the small round spacer thats under the rubber seal that butts up to the battery. This version is virtually identical to the original, just beefed up little to help strengthen it. Glow modified Stl This version is the same as glo, except the base of the mount that comes into contact with the bike is larger. It has a larger base/or feet if you will that wraps more around the tube to help with the overall strength, the original section was kind of thin. This larger section actually helped stabilize the light in the unorthodox location I mount them. Once on the bike this version you can't move it by hand when zip tied. The original model you can, but is still pretty good. I haven’t tested it out yet but I feel like this version will be better for the location I use.
