Bookshelf open top and back
thingiverse
This is a "Virtual Bookshelf" where designers store and organize "parts" in virtual space during CAD design processes, keeping them separate from actual printed items. When designing in 3D, multiple copies or versions of parts or designs are set aside for easy reference and comparison. These copies often radiate outward from the central design area at 45-degree angles, with older versions closer to the center and newer ones farther away. Each copy represents a specific stage in the development process, saved for quick recall when needed. This helps track how features evolve and change during iterative design processes. To scale the virtual bookshelf to fit any space, simply adjust its size in any direction. One of the simplest ways to manage these parts is by placing them on virtual shelves. Designers can add labels if desired, but usually, parts related to a specific project are self-explanatory. On each shelf, they orient the parts from oldest (left) to newest (right).
