Booster Stage Adapter for Model Rocket Kit

Booster Stage Adapter for Model Rocket Kit

I Wanted to get my kids into model rocketry. As a kid I had everything, however over the years, it has all been tossed. I decided I could print just about everything but the rocket engines, (maybe even those if I did sugar rocket engines). While looking to see what was already out there for model rocket parts, I stumbled upon elipticaloptician's Model Rocket Kit designs. This was perfect. Instead of having to design everything, here I had all the parts to make a bunch of different rockets. I was able to print the parts, and let my kids pick which parts they wanted for their rockets to make something their own. they are 6yr, 5yr and 2yr. So this is good because they are not quite ready to build their own model rockets from a kit. I designed this booster stage adapter which will enable you to adapt 2 bases from the model rocket kit to make a booster stage to fly higher!!! I also made a couple of other pieces. 1) Booster Stage Adapter - Replaces the bottom piece from the model rocket kit which will allow you to attach another base to house a booster engine. 2) Booster Stage Adapter Sleeve - Used in conjunction with the adapter to connect another base to house a booster engine. I intend it to be glued to the base that will house the booster engine, but it will work not glued. However, if you don't glue it, it may fly off during separation, or stay on the rocket side, and possibly get burned up by the main engine. 3) BT-55 body tube - I designed this so I didn't have to buy BT-55 body tubes. They print great and work perfect. 4) BT-55 Body Tube Coupler- This is used to put 2 or more BT-55 body tubes together to make a longer rocket. I have also designed a really cool igniter box which is on thingivers as well. It works, but I am still working on it to make it better. I have not used the coupler, but it fits great. I have not used the booster adapter, but it also fits great! I haven't bought booster engines yet. We launched 3 versions of the model rocket kit recently. We used C12-7 engines because they would fit without adapters. Being my kids first launch, I thought C12's would be high enough. They flew very high! Higher than I expected with the weight. I'd guesstimate close to 1000 feet! However, just a guess! They rockets worked great. Didn't melt or burn and are ready to launch again. I am going to purchase some C12-0 booster engines. Double the height. I still have 3 c12-7's. I think that will be more than enough before going to D engines!!!
