Create your own Bottle Stopper with a ready to print stopper, then you just add your design on top. Learn how to create basic shapes or complex designs in your selected CAD software, and then merge the design with our stopper template. Print Settings Printer: HICTOP Prusa I3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 10% Notes: Shell = 1.2mm Bottom layer = 1.2mm Post-Printing Prototype Prints A number of prototype prints to measure the size of different bottle openings How I Designed This First ideas including the concept, design, and then I started to get measurements I measured a bottle cap and then reduced the size on the bottom then the top. I did this so the stopper could fit in different sized bottle openings. Prototype 1 - Used a cone shape then sliced the cone to the correct diameter After a number of attempts I found the correct shape, size, and depth I wanted to use. Final adjustments were made to make the stopper look better. I imported a jet design from the inbuilt library on 123D Design. A simple design was created by combining triangles Another simple design was created by putting cubes on top of each other, and by reducing their scale each level. Project: Bottle Stopper Project Name: Bottle Stopper Overview & Background: To design and create a shape or object to put on top of a bottle stopper. Students will learn how to design simple shapes/designs in Autodesk 123D Design software or any another preferred CAD software. Objectives: Create a simple shape or design to merge with the stopper template. Audiences: Beginners to CAD software Secondary School Children (Years 9 to 11) [Aged 14-17] College Students [Aged 17-20] Subjects: ICT Design and Technology Skills Learned (Standards): Basic understanding of how to use CAD software. Lesson/Activity: 1.) Demonstrate how to use simple functions in AutoDesk 123D Design. Here is a easy to follow video: 2.) Give each person the "Stopper V1" STL file, and drag and drop the file into a new file. 3.) Design a shape or object on top of the stopper. 4.) Each person to show their finished design. Duration: 1 hour - 3 hours (depending on how good you want the designs to be) Preparation: Download a CAD software (Recommend Autodesk 123D Design) Basic understanding of using an computer Rubric & Assessment: Students should have designed a shape or object that can be printed on top of the stopper.
