<p><i>v2: added built-in scoops that are also volumetrically accurate. You should be able to scoop and let it fall into the bowl.</i></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The vet says my guy needs to go on a diet, so these are half-cup and 2x half-cup dog bowls, which was recommended.</p><ul><li>I measured the height of his food (about 1cm) and made it the depth of the bowl, so the food will be one layer deep.</li><li>I used the cylinder-volume formula (<i>V</i>=<i>πr^</i>2<i>h) </i>to make the bowl as wide as possible within the portion recommended, so from the top it's somewhat the size of his old bowl.</li></ul><p>I'm hoping he won't notice it's only 1 layer / 1 cm deep instead of the 3-4-5cm deep pile he was getting 2x per day. 2 days in, it seems to be working but I think he's on to me.</p><p><strong>Starter:</strong></p><p>One half cup dog food and one half cup plain Cheerios, twice a day</p><blockquote><p>"…since they're basically the same thing and he thinks he's getting a treat."&nbsp;</p><p>Vet</p></blockquote><p><strong>Work down to:</strong></p><p>One half cup of dog food and cheerio mix, twice per day. Until normal weight is reached.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Ongoing:</strong></p><p>One half cup of dog food, monitor to see if that's about right.</p>
