The ULA Rocket Hardware Challenge involves designing a bracket that meets specific weight requirements while maintaining strength. The current design is 40% heavier than desired, but reducing it further would compromise its strength. The bracket must support up to 300kg, but the designer would not feel comfortable with someone hanging from it at a high place due to the increased weight. To ensure reliability, the designer has chosen to prioritize strength over weight. Additionally, the design includes a "Compound part," which imagines secondary factors that improve the end result. In this case, the weight is hung close to the wall with minimal angle between it and the bracket attachment, reducing bending stress on the bracket.
