Braille Periodic Table

Braille Periodic Table

thingiverse

This is a tactile Periodic Table, separated into groups. It can be prearranged for a student, or the student can use their knowledge to put the table together. Add magnets on the back to assist with holding the pieces in place on a whiteboard. Braille should be printed on the vertical face. The element names are all in grade 1 braille (no contractions, no shortforms) and in the top half of the box. The Atomic number is in the bottom half of the box. For atomic numbers greater than 99, the number sign has been omitted due to space. The placement of the Lanthanides and Actinides within the main table is represented by *La for the Lanthanides and †Ac for the Actinides. Different edgings are used to represent the different types of elements: • Metals are shown with a square edging. • Metalloids are shown with a dashed edging • Non-metals are shown with a dotted edging • Elements with unknown status are shown without edging (atomic numbers 113-118)
