The tamp station is designed to avoid using a countertop as a pressing platform when tamping 54mm coffee head. As this can be a messy process, I have also included a lower brim to catch any coffee that may spill out of the brew head when tamping. I have had great success with using PLA but you need to remember that PLA does not stand up to hot water washes or dishwashing and the print will shrink. A filament such as ABS is more suited to this application. This is an easy print with the only two considerations being material and infill. 20% or more infill is recommended for a strong print.
