1/900th scale Fairey Swordfish Torpedo Bomber model. Certain elements not to scale. The Fairey Swordfish was a carrier borne biplane designed for torpedo bombing operations. Introduced in 1936, it was more or less obsolete by the onset of the war. In spite of this, the aircraft saw incredible success. First, at the Battle of Taranto where the British struck at the Italian fleet in port. The Swordfish also launched the torpedoes that jammed the rudder of the infamous German Battleship Bismarck, preventing it from escaping to the Luftwaffe controlled French coast. The Swordfish destroyed more Axis shipping by tonnage than any other Allied aircraft. This model is designed and tested at 1/900th scale, but up-scaling and down-scaling are possible. Since the model is optimized for 1/900th scale, it is not ideal to print larger versions due to a lack of detail. The model has been enlarged along the z axis to allow for better printing and accentuation of detail. The model has also been given thicker elements for strength. The wingspan and overall length are to scale. You can find the stand at https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-print-models/miniatures/vehicles/stand-for-miniature-aircraft.
