**** Note: So far it has been tested that this mod works with 2022 C Line only. I'm making adjustment for older model but since I don't have the bike the process will be slow. I have meet with someone who has older bike in order to test each iteration.

****

If you own a Brompton bike you know that in order to pick up a folded bike or lift it a little bit just to get on a bus you have to retract the seat post all the way down or the bike will unfold as you lift it up. You can't keep the seat post out high enough to reach without bending over and push the bike around or you risk forgetting that your bike will unfold the moment you lift it up. Many of you will keep the seat post down and use the handle bar to push your bike which is totally fine but for me I find it kindda awkward and prefer to push the bike by the saddle.

I made this because I see Brompton introduced their new bike last year, P Line and T Line come from factory with such feature and I want it so I made it. Once installed you just fold your bike normally but only retract the seat post half way down so your saddle is still within reach when you stand next to it(to further explain, you can retract the seat post all the way down for compact storage. Just to clarify because some misunderstood that this mod no longer allow full retraction). You can push your bike folded easily this way. It is a feature Brompton should include in their bikes years ago.

I recommend printing this in TPU with 4-5 walls and medium infill like 30-35%. You'd want some flexibility because I designed this to tightly fit the rear triangle. You also want it to not get squished when lifting your bike hence lots of vertical shells and a bit more infill density than usual.

The rear wheel will move down a little when lifting, this is normal because the way Brompton seat post is designed with a flared end. I have to allow a small gap so the seat post can past down to the bottom when you want to fully fold your bike.

This will work with or without mudguard and will ONLY work for Original Brompton. Brompton clones will not be able to use this mod. There are several reasons behind that but since I also have a Brompton clone I also made one for it. if you have one of the clone then just print the one for clone and install it flat side up.

I have included installation video and a demo video of what it does for those who wonder.

<oembed url="https://youtu.be/WR1Znj7chg4"></oembed>

<oembed url="https://youtu.be/eM8KAQNPYXE"></oembed>
