Building Blocks for Modern City Scenes - Kit01 3D model

This building block kit is designed for constructing modern city scenes including streets, buildings, and rapid transit systems. Freeways and railroads are not included yet. The modules and examples in this kit were originally made using SketchUp 8 and exported to Blender 2.83 for rendering and file format conversion. Two file formats are included in this kit: FBX and OBJ. The converted files still have the original material settings, and Figures 1~12 show the rendered appearances of the models in this kit. The orientation setting is “Y forward and Z up”. Each file format includes five files, and brief descriptions for them are as the following: Kit01_Modules_Transportation: modules for constructing street systems and rapid transit systems. (Figure 1) Kit01_Modules_Buildings: sample buildings that can be inserted into the spaces between the streets. (Figure 2) Kit01_Example01: an example of street systems composed of the modules in this kit. It is a hierarchical street system as shown in Figure 8. (1000m*1000m measured from centerline to centerline of the major streets) Kit01_Example02: another example of street systems. It is shown in Figure 9. (750m*750m measured from centerline to centerline of the major streets) Kit01_Example03: an example of city blocks. It was made by using the model in Kit01_Example02 and then adding sample buildings from Kit01_Modules_Buildings. (Figure 12) The modules are color-coded. A contact surface can be attached to a surface with the same color (Figures 3~5, and Figure 10) or a white surface. Regular steps of assembly include copying and pasting, rotating, and moving the modules. If a left-hand-traffic street system is to be constructed, then mirroring some of the modules are necessary. Some more images were rendered using the model in Kit01_Example03 and additional material settings. The additional material settings are NOT included in this kit, and the rendering results are shown in Figures 13 ~21.
