So I started off just wanting to print a few simple buttons to repair some shirts that need attention. This then led me down the road of getting a little "creative" with my design process to spice things up.

I designed a simple round button (included) then took that and ran, making every hole combination that I could use. After that I thought why not some sweet Hex buttons and that got a little out of hand, I have all 5 hole variants for them as well as different surface shapes as well as different hole shapes (standard round and non-standard hex.)

This led me to want some cool 3D printing inspired cuff links and buttons for a jacket, thus the rest were born.

I made a rough model of a v6 nozzle in 0.4 and 0.8 (because I <3 Filament Frenzy's sexy phat layer lines) as well as a full interpretation of a full v6 hotend and a roll of filament.

I then used my hotend model to carve out some of the buttons that can be printed with a 0.4 nozzle but I recommend finer or resin for them.

I split the spool cuff link and Prusament button into multiple parts for MMU printing even though I do not have an MMU but I figured someone may like the ability to do that.

crazy button letter cipher key
2/4 = number of holes
H/O = hex or round shaped holes
L/- = button hole orientation (L is point to point, - is flat to flat)
N = narrow hole spacing

Print instructions

All of the models can be printed on an FDM machine the included picture was done on a 75$ unknown chinese brand machine that I got on eBay to test printability on. That being said the V6 and Prusament buttons/cuff links work best in resin but as long as you tune your printer and slicer appropriately for the narrow hex pattern you can get away with it.

Round and Hex buttons all print flat (backside) down.
Cuff links I put on a 59 degree X rotation with little to no supports.
Suit buttons I put on a 25 degree X rotation with the same little to no support.

I printed all with the following settings

Nozzle Size: 0.4mm
Print Speed: 50mm/s
Layer Height: 0.1
E0 Temp: 205
Bed Temp: 60
Material: Sunlu Marble and Rainbow PLA
